THE POWER OF DECISION!

This is what was lacking in many clients that SHOULD have had better results and didn't the week before last. (Spoiler alert: they all turned it around and received champion ribbons.)

They had the confidence. They had belief (and even past wins).

They no longer struggled with nerves.

They even had the horses and trainers to make it happen!

But all that was exactly the problem; they went in feeling entitled to win!

What I call the "SHOULD" gear!

And the "WANT" gear.

Wanting to win. Trying to win. Knowing they have POTENTIAL!

Me: "OK, but that's not enough. You literally are not even in the right gear. You're not even in the game ... as far as getting your head into the game!

You're in the potential gear. NOT the "I'M MAKING IT HAPPEN COME HELL OR HIGH WATER!" gear."

You are lacking intention and intensity. And most of all ...

ACTION! ENERGY! EMOTION!

Remember that line from Jerry McGuire movie when Jerry called out his football playing client about his entitled attitude, half-assed effort, and self-sabotaging behavior?

"No heart? I've got heart! You want to see heart? I'll show you heart!"

Sorry, but if you are in a casual, lackadaisical state, or spinning around in mediocrity, you need a pattern interrupt.

Forget the fancy neuroscience tools, mindfulness, the latest advancements in behavior change, and the belief and focus techniques for "manifestation" etc. These clients had already mastered those techniques.

And they WERE winning and getting Champions.

But halfway through winter circuit and ... you know, now that they had muscle and mental memory, it was almost too easy for them.

They knew they were Rockstars ... BUT they allowed that fact to ease their foot off the gas pedal. They got complacent. They took it all for granted. They lost some of their edge. They became ...

Wait for it ... entitled to win!

Now what?

Sometimes you just need to give yourself a good old fashioned bitch slap to shift yourself into reality! You need ...

The power of decision!

Results happen when we decide to hop off the fence! And our high horse. No blue ribbons there!

Listen ... of course you want it. Everyone wants it.

Of course you're "trying." Everyone does their limited version of "trying", but the ones that are succeeding are the proactive ones that get out of their comfort zones to make a full decision and commitment to ...

SLAM it into gear, show up on a MISSON WITH PURPOSE, stay the course, and do WHATEVER IT TAKES to steal the prize! With a rule that says, "Failure is NOT an option!"

These are the clients that decide ahead of time to proudly march up to the award table and take their blue/champion ribbon because they went above and beyond to fight like hell and EARNED it again!

Everyone else's approach is ... literally that they deserve it based upon PAST results, showing up with potential in their skills and well-trained horses, looking the part with a new show coat, and going through SOME of the motions. A loser’s strategy.

Holding yourself back is all in your head. And if you are all up in your head with an entitled attitude, you're behind enemy lines.

(It may not feel like the enemy, it may FEEL like a powerful Rockstar identity and confidence, but entitled is actually a Trojan Horse!)

Ready to get serious about your outcomes in riding and life?

Because anything that is not all in and committed to a program of extreme ownership, accountability, and staying the course is NOT a peak performance mindset firmly planted on a bridle path to a successful destination.

You are just married to "trying" ... which is basically just the gear for sampling a buffet of a bunch of busy work.

It looks like effort, and some of it is helpful, but not meeting all your goals, right?

I know, therapists are big on worshipping baby steps; "making and celebrating small, incremental steps forward" and trying to help us feel better about any disappointments that happens, but that is not an effective lifetime strategy for peak performance success.

Listen, it's fine for getting out of a stuck place and to start the process of making progress forward, but we don't use kindergarten strategies for college students. Once we get the basics ... once we start excelling in the ring ...

Once we grow and learn how to stop being afraid of negative feelings, and to courageously face our failures and USE that pain to fuel us forward into greatness, then we keep STEPPING IT UP and demanding even more of ourselves.

Because now we are empowered! Unflappable! And friggin' unstoppable! We are never empowered if we are victims running away from anything; especially our feelings, failures, and hard work!

Peak performing champions learn to hate and laugh at small incremental steps.

Peak performers prefer to "get over" issues and solve problems in 15 minutes what other people take hours, days, weeks, months or years "to process."

Why would we choose that over taking BIG, BOLD STRIDES to receive BIG, BOLD RESULTS? As quickly as we can!

Look at all the young ages of athletes and entrepreneurs that are killing it out there now!

(But because we are married to the easier and softer way, we value that over the quality and timing of massive results.)

This is why thousands of people with mediocre or failing results show up to a Tony Robbins' event like half asleep walking zombies, where he proceeds to wake them up with LOUD music and making them yell and scream at themselves, "Raise your standards! Say YES! ONLY MASSIVE results by taking MASSIVE ACTION" for three long days!

Our society has been lulled into mediocrity, avoiding uncomfortable feelings, taking self-sabotaging shortcuts, and accepting limiting beliefs and outcomes.

I'm all about being kind, understanding, and extending empathy to myself and others, but honestly, I don't agree with a full diet of it for a lifetime. For most of us? We need to balance that out by shifting from understanding to DEMANDING better results!

We need to generate energy and passion and then rein all that in, and create impulsion for jumping over our competitors, by collecting our wits through cracking more whips!

In my program, we do NOT accept less than our best. We program our brains for a new, higher standard where we go out there every day with our winning performance that actually WAS our personal best!

And not a list of excuses like, "Well, you did the best you could at the time." for not doing our personal best.

I get it. We all want it to happen from our comfort zones of ease, less effort, less pace, less intensity, less "being challenged and pushed",  less accountability, LESS FINANCIAL AND TIME COMMITMENT, and a desire for certainty by avoiding uncertainty.

(Interesting what we place a high value on, right? Interesting the stories we tell ourselves about having a winning strategy.)

We all want it to happen without putting ourselves out there and giving it our all. (Because what if we do that and still we don't get the results we want?)

We all want it to just organically, magically happen when we want and how we want it ... on our terms.

But channeling our inner Annie Hall and choosing a casual, "la-di-da" MY WAY gear ...

It won't happen like that.

Client: "Well, I just want to have fun."

Me: (Channeling my husband, Jack Miles.) "WINNING is fun!"

Client: "Well, focusing on having fun takes the pressure off."

Me: "Which takes your eyes off the prize. That line is literally code for "I'm afraid to have the goal of winning and then being disappointed."

So being driven by the fear of disappointment.

It won't happen like that.

It never does.

Me: "So you're being driven by the fear of pressure/disappointment and the solution is a new goal to NOT perform your best? You're lowering the bar?"

(Why not embrace pressure and make it FUEL you to be your best?")

Because with your way ... there will be some improvements ... you will FEEL like you are in control (which is what keeps you stuck there).

But the reality will be spinning around in the dance of two steps forward and three steps back. And working hard every moment of every day to believe a story you've spun to stay in denial about the truth;

That you’re riding around and showing off how you are really just a wannabe Equestrian Rockstar when the reality is more like the girl (or boy) next door!

(REALITY CHECK; if someone else is helping to support your sport financially, is this attitude and gear even an option?)

Get off the fence of mediocrity with the power of DECISION!

To rev it up with a higher gear; your HEART and PASSION gear.

(Sidebar; this requires knowing your "why" and the leverages that works best for you! On TOP of having already learned the mental skills I teach in my bootcamp!)

Passion is the INTENSE emotion compelling action that is driven with determination and courage.

This is what gets you the powerful results.

It is a completely higher standard and level for showing up in riding and in life.

Just say NO to lower standards and gears.

"We are either pitiful or powerful, but we can't be both." Dr. Joyce Meyers

Lower gears of mediocrity MUST be labeled as pitiful because it is not just the comfy couch, it is quicksand.

It lacks heart and soul and passion.

And sucks us into a life that is overflowing with regrets ... for what we could have become and achieved.

We must demonize the lazy, entitled behavior we DON'T want to code into our brains to repeat!

And EMBRACE the higher gears!

The audacious turns and BOLD leave outs of the jumpers.

The relaxed, accurate, and brilliant presence of the hunters!

The fearlessness, speed, and endurance of the eventers!

The glowing confidence, absolute certainty, and peak performance mindset of my Equestrian Rockstars!

As a strategic interventionist, the results with my coaching are dramatically different. No TEMPORARY brandades for symptoms.

I build a SOLID foundation for excellence. Coaching with me is a DECISION TO SHIFT out of your current gear and to learn to generate passion and determination to do whatever it takes to INVEST and COMMIT to a STRATEGIC WINNING PLAN of ACTION to REJECT the mediocre outcomes in riding and life and to generate powerful, LASTING results instead!
